Get Involved: Volunteer with Us

Join the Chocolution is a growing movement committed to justice, dignity, and connection in the world of cocoa and chocolate.

We produce the Norwich Chocolate Festival, but that’s just one part of what we do. We’re also developing creative projects, education programmes, events, and community actions — all centred around elevating the voices of cocoa-growing communities and shifting the conversation around chocolate.

This work is powered by people — people who care, who imagine, who organise, and who show up. If you believe in what we’re building and want to be part of it, we’d love to welcome you as a volunteer.

Whether you want to help bring an event to life, support behind the scenes, or contribute your time and talents to shaping the bigger picture, there are so many ways to get involved.

You don’t need to be an expert — just someone who’s willing to offer a bit of time, energy, or skill to help this movement grow.

Ways to Get Involved

We welcome volunteers with all kinds of experience, interests, and availability. Whether you're looking to get stuck in for a weekend or help shape something long-term, there's a role for you.

Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

Event Volunteers
– On the Day

Support the smooth running of our live events, including the Norwich Chocolate Festival, fundraising activities, and pop-up experiences.

You might help with:

  • Welcoming and guiding visitors

  • Helping at the chocolate shop or tasting areas

  • Assisting with workshops, talks, or performances

  • Stewarding and general event support

  • Setting up or packing down venues

This is perfect if you enjoy working with people and want to be part of something joyful and energetic.

Behind-the-Scenes Volunteers
– Pre-Event & Admin Support

Help us plan, coordinate, and deliver events and projects from the ground up. These roles are flexible and often remote — ideal if you prefer working in the background or have limited time on event days.

You could support with:

  • Scheduling, coordination, or admin tasks

  • Content writing, proofreading, or research

  • Sourcing products or liaising with contributors

  • Graphic design or communications support

  • Helping prepare materials or kits for events

Movement-Building Volunteers
– Year-Round Involvement

Join the wider work of Join the Chocolution as we grow the movement. This could mean helping us develop new events, creative collaborations, or community engagement projects throughout the year.

We’re especially keen to hear from people who can help with:

  • Social media and digital storytelling

  • Outreach to schools, communities, or chocolate businesses

  • Creative project development

  • Translation, access, or inclusion-focused work

  • Fundraising or sponsorship support

Be Part of the Leadership Journey: NED's & Advisory Board Opportunities

We’re currently in the process of registering Join the Chocolution as a Community Interest Company (CIC). To achieve this, we’re seeking committed, values-aligned individuals to join our journey in two important roles:

Non-Executive Directors (NEDs)

Bring your experience, insight, and passion to help shape the strategic direction of the organisation. You don’t need previous boardroom experience—we’re building something different. We're particularly interested if you have expertise or lived experience in any of these areas:

  • Lived experience of cocoa-growing regions or poverty

  • Governance, CICs, or charity leadership

  • Fundraising or financial management

  • Accessibility, disability inclusion, or equity work

  • Strategic thinking with heart

Advisory Board Members

Our Advisory Board provides strategic guidance, specialist expertise, and valuable insights, acting as critical friends and informed advisors. A strong Advisory Board brings diverse perspectives, experiences, and networks that help ensure the organisation remains informed, effective, and impactful.

We welcome advisors with backgrounds in:

  • Human rights, labour rights, and social justice

  • Legal expertise (international law, corporate accountability, governance)

  • Sustainability, responsible sourcing, and transparency

  • Community engagement, activism, and education

  • Creative industries, storytelling, or media

  • Event management and strategic programming

  • Innovation, digital strategy, or technology

If you're passionate about supporting our vision for systemic change in cocoa and chocolate, we'd love to hear from you.

Not sure where you fit? That’s okay.

You can always tell us about yourself, your interests, and the time you can offer — and we’ll figure it out together.
